LOUISA COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY STAFF MEMBER NANCY PUGH  RECEIVES WASTEWATER OPERATOR SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR AWARD

LOUISA, VIRGINIA – Louisa County Water Authority is pleased to announce that on April 17, 2019 Nancy Pugh received the Wastewater Operator Specialist of the Year Award at the 2019 Virginia Rural Water Association’s 31st Annual Conference and Technical Exposition, in Roanoke Virginia.

Nancy began her career in water and wastewater treatment over twenty-one years ago.  When she came to the Louisa County Water Authority in 2007 she had her Class II Water Operator License and her Class I Wastewater License.

Nancy is the Chief Wastewater Operator for our Zion Crossroads Wastewater Treatment Plant and a key member of the Louisa County Water Authority Management Team, always prepared, knowledgeable and professional.

She keeps the Zion Crossroads Wastewater Treatment Plant current with regulation, keeps the General Manager informed and demonstrates exemplary skills in wastewater treatment, including our Re-use System and any facility or process upgrades.  The Zion Crossroads Wastewater Treatment Plant is an Advanced Treatment facility.  Computers run the plant in large part, but during a recent double electrical strike, Nancy had everything running manually and kept the facility in compliance during a difficult and stressful event.  During 2018, the plant received record rainfall of 83”, several times the area was flooded with as many as 18 manholes underwater, but Nancy kept everything running and in compliance.

Nancy is proactive about finalizing projects, takes the initiative to solve problems and monitors cost.  She is dependable, forward thinking and keeps her wastewater staff informed and well trained.

Nancy’s biggest asset is how she mentors less experienced operators, both by example with her own work ethic as well as one-on-one tutoring, helping them to achieve their professional development goals and attainment of professional licenses.

Nancy has proven herself to be an outstanding asset to Louisa County Water Authority and the Louisa County Community.  We are proud that the Virginia Rural Water Association has honored Nancy with the award of Wastewater Operator Specialist of the Year.
